How effective is your website?

Take this quick test to find out.

It’s still tough to get some people to realize that your website is the absolute foundation of all your marketing activities. It’s better than print, radio, TV, and billboard.

Effective Hotel Website

In fact, about the only marketing that gives the web a run for its money is direct mail. Since that is about one hundred times more expensive than a website, it pays to focus your attention on the web first.

Take this quick test to see how effective your current website is as a marketing tool:

1. Do you have at least five different ways to collect data on your site?

YES or NO

2. Can you make changes to your site anytime you want without calling anyone and without any computer experience necessary?

YES or NO

3. Can you do e-mail blasts to drive bookings anytime you want with no computer experience needed?

YES or NO

4. Can prospective customers book a room, a tee time, a lift ticket, make a reservation at your restaurant, or buy products online at your site?

YES or NO

5. Does your site have compelling copy that asks for action on every page?

YES or NO

6. Can prospects make outing, meeting, and wedding requests online at your site and can you preprogram your site with sales letters to automatically follow up on all requests?

YES or NO

7. Does your site offer a media section where the media can download high-resolution pictures, logos, and fact sheets when they want instant information on your facility?

YES or NO

8. Do you use a monthly newsletter to let people know what is going on at your property?

YES or NO

If you answered “No” to more than two of these questions, you do not have a marketing machine, you have an average website. It looks pretty, but does little to help you. Learn how to turn your website into a marketing machine with the Hotel and Resort Marketing Bible.

In this chapter of the Hotel and Resort Marketing Bible you will also learn:

• how your current site measures up,
• how to design an effective website,
• what the most important features are, and
• why you should automate as much as possible.
